Taking Cutting From Blackberry Bush

I've been out walking the last few evenings and tried a few different routes. I found a couple of places where blackberries are growing.

What's the best way of taking cuttings? I think my mum has some cloning gel she used for roses. Do I just take a cutting, dip it in the gel and put it in water till it roots?

Is there a particular place on the plant to take the cutting from?

Never tried it, but Blackberries tend to grow "air roots" and I'd just cut one off and plant it up. They also layer themselves into the soil, so you could look for one of these and again, just cut it off.

Blackberries root from the tip. You need to peg down a tip with a hairpin or something, wait until it's rooted, then dig it up

Have a root about and see if you can find a bit. If they're wild then make sure you plant them somewhere that isn't going to drive you mad.
I know some wild ones that spike tyres if you go over them!

my hedge is full of the flippin things ..... wild ones will take over ..... feel free to come take the lot .... they are currently about 20 foot tall .... bumble bees like them though lol

glad I found this old thread was going to take a cutting from some wild ones but I wouldnt be able to peg it down first, think Ill give it a bash growing them from seed xx
