Dying raspberry cane

I planted a dozen Loch Fyne Long Cane Raspberries earlier this year and so far they have produced plenty of fruit. Suddenly one has died and I am not sure what the problem is and wether or not to dig the the plant up because of infection.

I have attached photos. If anyone could help on this problem?

dig it up and have a look at the roots. Raspberries are prone to root rot if they are in wet ground. maybe bear that in mind

I think you will find that that one has no roots. Pull it up and get rid of it.

I had a problem simular to this with three of my autumn bliss canes I planted, anyone know what causes it?

This year I've lost almost all of the Joan J autumn fruiting Raspberries. Initially they looked very strong and well but very quickly they started to die back and now they are all similarly affected. My summer fruiting crop was massive with no problems. They both grow next to each other. Any ideas anybody?

Lost my loganberry to root rot in the shade garden clay. Blackberry alongside seems fine. My mrs accidentally chopped out the new logan canes earlier In the year on the Logan's. I'm going to dig in compost and replace with tayberry.

It's a guess, but I think the consistently wet soil has led to a build up of fungal or microbial pathogens, to the point where vulnerable plants simply cave under the pressure. Plants with a more effective, i.e. greater, disease resistance might be right next to them, and still be unaffected. (For the moment...)
