  • Very tall raspberries, trim tips or train them?

I've got summer fruiting raspberries that i tie onto a 6ft frame but they are already aout 9 foot high. Would it be best to cut them down to 6foot or train them over into an arch? Any suggestions on the best yield welcome

Iv'e tried training them and finished up with a tangle. Now I cut off the tops and they side shoot the shoots bear fruit.

Sounds like mine this year. When i trained them of course they didnt have the side shoots so looked ok, then it just got so crowded.

Definitely snip the tops off, got far more fruit this year doing that.

I cut mine off at eye level in the springtime.

I train mine over in an arc to the wires, seems to help get a big crop. Think I read in a mag / book that this was the right thing to do once but might have imagined that

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
