  • Waitrose selling blemished fruit

Well, its a step in the right direction towards reality but these are fruits with a bit of russetting on the skin as a result of the weather, they're selling them as 'ugly' apples and plums.

I don't even notice that kind of effect on my home-grown fruit, a 'blemish' to me is a hole with antennae sticking out of it.

Should we take a lesson from the Olympics and stop calling these perfectly healthy fruits nasty names and call them Special instead?

Or just call them "fruit". They've been doing this for a while, remember a couple of years ago they were selling mis shapen strawberries for making jam etc - if I shoppped in supermarkets I'd buy them for normal use seeing as they taste exactly the same.............. Grrrrrrrr and all that!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

      Ugly - No - that's insulting!
Its time that we Boycotted "Perfect" Fruit and veg and sought out "Veg with Character".

        Good for them!
About time these perfectly normal fruits are being sold again.
Many peeps peel their fruit anyway to get rid of any residue of pesticides etc.

Will they sell their "Perfect" fruit at a premium, rather than offering a reduction for "ugly" fruit?
Cynical, Moi?. Or. heaven forbid, will it all be sold at the same price?

Oh, I'd have been thrilled to get a free happy ( but chilled) frog with my salad. I reckon the problem is with the daughter, not the amphibian or the salad sellers - she needs to know more about the real world . . .

"After I'd eaten lunch at work, I received a phone call from my hysterical daughter, screaming 'there's a frog in the salad bag in the fridge'.”

....And then Mother decides she can get some publicity and maybe blackmail Waitrose into giving her a bit more than a replacement bag of salad!

I thought all those capers in the frog salad looked a bit off...

I'd have packaged the frog with garlic and herbs. Ready meal! Ribbit!
