  • New raspberry canes planted

Planted raspberries here last year but they all died as the area gets water logged, so replanted a couple of weeks ago after making a raised bed from scaffold planks, they are coming on nicely.

Beware Greeks bearing gifts, or have you already got a wooden horse?... hehe.

What variety did you go for crichmond? I'm giving some thought as to where to put some and have a few spare scaffold board beds.

      Looks great, proper support
I'm growing mine in raised beds made with scaffold boards and they've done great there, none died. Kept mulching around them and haven't had to water them once. I just put a good bit of manure in the trench and some more as a mulch in spring.

you wont need to buy more,i bought 10 joan j and 10 polka and now end up giving away 20-30 plants each year and still have more than i started with.....but what a taste...i treat one lot to a trim,5ft trim, and the other lot cut to the ground ,gives me fruit from end of june to about now,and we now have loads in the freezer..

I tried growing mine in 30 cm sq containers one plant in each one. They did ok apart from one that died in the first year. Got plenty of fruit the following year, but they've all done poorly now with weak growing canes and mottled leaves despite feeding and watering them. It didn't really work out

Just Tulameen? If you have the space, I would add a primocane variety. Certainly when you want to make jam (they are much more productive).

Well I know should really but cant beat the price of them, will use them for making cordial and frozen fruit as well.

I ordered 40 and they arrived yesterday. They emailed me a discount code so got them for £4.49 per 10 and they look amazingly healthy. Got them soaking overnight and plan on sorting their bed out tomorrow - I'm keeping 20 and sharing the rest with a couple of gardening friends that like a bargain too.

I purchased my raspberries from RW Walpole, who does small orders. I paid most varieties around £0,5 per cane.
