First Strawberry

Have picked it and eaten it. Had intended to photograph it first just to show off but simply couldn't resist it - looked at me all red and plump and - well its gone now. But more turning red as we speak!

You have to grow them in a greenhouse or frame to get really early ones Mr Woo. Welcome to the grapevine - there's loads of good advice here - and it's a scream too!

Depends on what type you have as to when they crop but now is VERY early and I've been amazed at the size of fruits on mine this year - there's loads and they're swelling daily so I'm looking forward to them ripening later this month which is a good few weeks earlier than normal. I've got three varieties on the go and the later set aren't really doing much yet so hopefully I'll have a good long cropping period.

I have 3 varieties too, loads of flowers-2 white, one pink but no fruit yet, how many weeks til I get the crop? Can't remember last years and I just want to eat lots of yummy strawberries now!! I expect just in time for wimbledon!

We had loads of strawberries ripening but i went into the poly tunnel this morning and noticed a very fat mouse and all the almost ready strawberries either gone or removed from the plants and nibbled Have now declared war on the mice...........

Fantastic.......it looks like a bumper crop on the lottie again this year. Loads of strawberries in flower.
There is nothing quite like english strawberries just picked.
