Forgot to mention - companion planting is great - try pot marigolds (not the african type from garden centres) and nasturtians as these will bring bees galore to your patch.

Both are easily grown from a cheap packet of seed and once you've planted them you will always have them! they look fantastic and you can eat them both as well - so win win.
