Apricot Tomcot arrives tomorrow

I'm starting to panic about the imminent arrival of 2 year old, bare root Apricot Tomcot - tomorrow Apricot Tomcot tree, mail order apricot tomcot tree, order apricot trees online Blackmoor Nurseries
Its the one on Montclare rootstock.
Any advice on the best position for it and how I should prepare the planting hole?
Somehow, I thought it would take weeks to arrive, not days

You probably are aware but they are susceptible to leaf curl, if that makes any difference to your planting location?

Tomcot is one of the easiest apricots, just plant it, cut back all the shoots, and let it get on with it.

I've not heard of the Montclair rootstock in the UK before, sounds interesting.

Since I've been told planting garlic nearby, and strawberries that leafcurl can be avoided, you should put it in the middle of the garlic and add strawberried

I've got an Avalon Pride peach on Montclair. I don't know if its just because the variety has leafcurl resistance or if the rootstock plays a part too, but its the healthiest peach tree I have.
And right now we have that rare combination of warm and dry winter weather, perfect for planting.

I'm tempted. It's been playing on my mind since you posted about it VC. Where are you planning on planting it? - west or over by'ere?

Probably Over by yer, Chris, more space to play with! Still hasn't arrived though Sent on Thursday saying it should be received next day Now I have to stay here until it arrives

Decided to hold off now, until I get a patio sorted (coincidently, might get someone to lay it for me to speed things up, but I've two drains inbetween where it's gong to go so not sure about it going against a wall now, hmph!).

Hehe, I can't plant it where I wanted it to go as there's big flag stones there- hence why I'd have to wait for patio to be done (so I could leave an area un-patioed!)

Tomcot has arrived - & 6 Mt Everest "climbing" strawberries and 9 Autumn Bliss raspberries - because my old canes need some new blood.
The box they were packed in, labelled "keep upright" was so tall that I could only just reach the top of it. Its been a fight to open it - had to stand on a step to undo the top of the box. How I wish I was taller
