poor flavoured raspberries

My autumn rasps were in the plot when I took it over 3 years ago, so I don't know how old they are, but they don't taste of much at all. Some people say that autumn rasps aren't as nice as summer ones, but I don't know. Does anyone else find this?
And is there a way I can improve the flavour? Up to now, I have chucked a bit of growmore or chicken pellets on in the spring, but that is all.
Or should I just take them out (if I can, they pop up all over the place) and buy some new plants?

Lack of sun and too much rain makes them taste fairly bland and watery. They really need a bit of sun.

the lack of taste is probably down to the constant rain,we had wishywashy tasting fruit last year til the rain eased off for a few weeks,what a difference,all of a sudden the taste was back with a bang.they are gross feeders,so feed them with a good mulch now to boost the crop then just enjoy as you should....

My autumn raspberries last year were far superior to the summer ones ....blame the rain . I've found autumn ones are bigger anyway ...

As said above: the weather. Not enough sun, not enough warmth and too much rain.

When we finally got a couple of weeks of sunny spells and mild temperatures, around mid-September, the autumn raspberries being picked at that time were a big improvement over those in the few weeks previous.

Mmmm, sun..I vaguely remember that..? I'll give them one more autumn to come up with the goods..

Can also be due to the variety you have on your plot. I have 4 different varieties (Autumn Bliss, Himbotop, Joan J and Pokusa).
While the first 3 are very good to good flavourwise, Pokusa produces gigantic raspberries but very bland tastewise. I will give them one more year in the garden, but the will probably end on the compost heap next year

Definitely not worth spending money on new canes until you've seen how the existing ones perform in a better year. (Assuming we ever get one!). It would be annoying to shell out for new ones and get the same problem

My Autumn raspberries 2012 were quite flavourless, the year before tasted amazing. Down to lack of sun really. Same plants.

You could try and good feed and potash. I've started giving it to all my fruit crops, climbers and roses. I think its made a difference to the flavour. But yes, constant rain doesn't help.
