  • Fruit Tree workshops at Chesterfield TRANSITION

Can I sing the praises of TRANSITION Chesterfield again (have done so before on GYO) having attended one of their skill sharing (confidence boosting) sessions today on fruit tree pruning (morning) and apple grafting (afternoon). They run many such workshops on gardening topics, chickens, jams, rugs, eco-homes etc, this particular one was in a community garden on the Derby Road Chesterfield and I’m aware there are many Grapes in the vicinity who might be interested in future ones…. Cost? Ł2.00 for each workshop (which includes tea and coffee so shouldn’t break the bank!) These are not celebrity gardeners making a fortune but experienced professionals sharing skills, very impressive examples of much-needed “collaborative planning and economy”.
“TRANSITION” is a national/international movement and you can find more details about the whole organisation at
    Welcome | Transition Network
There will be a Transition organisation near you though not necessarily undertaking the same things as the Chesterfield branch. If you live within hailing distance of Chesterfield the Chesterfield Transition runs its own newsletter which includes events like these Fruit Workshops, Potato Day, Eco Homes, “Green Drinks” etc, and you can sign up to receive further details at:
