Fruit tree blossom ID??

I wondered if anyone has found a site which ID's fruit trees by their blossom?

The reason is that I picked up some 'sticks with roots on' from Lidl about 6 years ago- no labels but they were some type of variety of plum family.

All but 2 died - one gave 3 fruit last year for the first time- think it's a greengage- but the other one has borken into blossom today for the first time ever ( REALLY exciting!!! )

No idea what it is but it has small white flowers spaced well apart. The tree has thorns on up to2" long.
I did think it was a mirabelle but having seen the flowers I'm not so sure now

Has anyone found a site I can compare my blossom on?

Could it be a rootstock flowering Nicos? Those 2" thorns sound a bit ominous. I've had plum trees and a greengage from Lidl and they've suckered like mad - the suckers are a different colour to the proper trunk.

Plums don't usually have thorns. Could you post some pictures?

Plum tree blossom is very difficult to ID, because all plum species have very similar / identical blossom.

Plum rootstocks can be fairly thorny - so if yours is thorny it is a good indication the rootstock has started growing and the grafted variety has died off. They will produce flowers like normal plum trees, and gage-like fruits - here is a photo of a St. Julien plum rootstock which has been allowed to grow and fruit: .

The fruits are edible but bland and tasteless.

Urmmm- sort of- but no- not exactly the same.

The leaves are growing along the stem and thorns in an open spiral- every 2cm or so, and with every leaf bud is one white flower.
The thorns are thinner too.

Update....it turned out to be a mirabelle Plum!

How lovely - I love Mirabelles. Even more the liqueur made from them.
