  • Conference pear fertilizing other pear tree

I have a pear tree already and was going to get a second. I want to get a conference pear, which I know is self fertile, but will it fertilise my other pear tree.

I googled 'pear tree fertilisation' and found this for you...so it depends on which other pear you have

It depends which mystery "other" pear variety you have.

Any pear varieties which are related have a high chance of partial or even complete incompatibility (since incompatibility is intended to reduce inbreeding). Triploid varieties are not particularly good pollinators of any variety - related or not - because they don't produce much viable pollen.

Ah slight problem I don't know what type mine is. I guess I will have to wait and see when it flowers.
