  • Strawberry from a batch of seedlings

(sorry about pic quality was on a mobile phone)
cant say im dissipointed with this one, id been growing some of my rarer and older type strawberries in my polytunnel , id grown seed from some of the white pineberry strawberries with all resulting seedlings having red or pale red berries, this plant was from one of the pineberry offsprings, i havent seen fruit so could be red like the parent or white fruited like grand parent but was pleasently suprised to see all 4 seedlings had varigated leaves,
wasent totally a random occurance in the polytunnel i had just one lonely plant of another variegated strawberry about 6ft away from from the parent plants so the little insects have been busy cross pollinating for me,
    best wishes stew

Looks a nice healthy plant Stew, is it staying in a pot or are you planting it out, get ready to save any runners.

many thanks, they are nice sturdy robust plants, the variegated male(pollen) parent is rather weak grower and fruiter, but is much more variegated than the pictured offspring,
ive gone to growing all my strawberries in pots now, rather expensive with about 200 varieties of 2 of each plants plus hundreds of experiments, but more than worth it when something odd or different pops up like this, im excitied now, just hoping by a fluke/luck grandparents white fruiting habit pops up,ill be saving a couple of runners off everything, fingers crossed for some fruit this time off it
