  • Protecting strawberries

I have some 1cm sq netting to cover my strawberries. I don't want to cover them to early and stop them being pollinated bur was wondering how long to leave them uncovered?

Until the fruits start turning red. Although hungry blackbirds will peck at white, unripe ones.

If you feed the blackbirds (sultanas?), they might leave your strawbs alone (until you net them). Protect against slugs and millipedes too, they both like strawbs.
