  • Gooseberry bush issues

Hello guys, I'm back here again regarding my gooseberry bushes.
Last year it was sawfly, this year that has been dealt with fast but now I have the issue of brown/purple spots on the leaves, leaves going brown and crispy at the edges, masses of purple all over some leaves, leaves not developing properly, fruit shrivelling up on my red bush and general defoliation. 2 weeks ago, all my bushes were healthy and lush with lots of fruit growing well. My red bush was covered in fruit, this is the first year its fruited too but now there are only a handful of fruit and some remnants of shrivelled fruit on the branches. My 2 green bushes that are in pots still have lots of fruit, albeit the smaller of the green bushes has much smaller fruit than it did last year. My other green bush is still laden with fruit but it's appearance is a bit dishevelled. We purposely separated the bushes out so that any infestations could be dealt with easier which it was but now this. I don't understand what has happened. Some of the leaves on my red bush have turned yellow and fallen off. It does look like something has ben munching some leaves but there is absolutely no evidence of saw fly anywhere. I am at a loss what is up with my bushes and I'm quite upset at not having a delicious red gooseberry crumble to delve into this year (again)
Does anyone have any idea what on earth is up with my bushes and how to treat it? Thank you.

The purplish leaves might suggest a potassium deficiency. And if they've been in pots for a year or two then that could be possible.

A high potash feed would help, and even a general feed would probably help if the plants are in pots.

Also i think thinning of gooseberries is advised which might be worth looking up properly, but I haven't thinned mine!?!

The yellowy leaf looks like it could have leaf spot Currant and gooseberry leaf spot / Royal Horticultural Society

Yes I can takes photo of the entire bush. I did some quite drastic pruning on the bushes after the sawfly infestation last year and thinned out by red bush. The bush that's most affected is my red which us in the ground.

I see this bush every day and believe me, it is not looking healthy. It's shrunk in size for a start and it's lost some leaves. A lot of leaves have holes in and a lot are brown and crispy at the edges. 2-3 weeks ago this bush had lovely big opened out leaves, smooth surfaces and a brilliant green. Today the leaves look shrivelled, they are no longer wide open or smooth. I know something is wrong with this bush
