  • Gooseberry and currant question.

I have a gooseberry and black/red currants in my garden and am wondering what stage of growth they should be at?
(was watching Monty Don the other night and his had fruit on!). Mine havent even flowered yet, NM producing any fruit! Its only their second year in though so Im not expecting much.
Do you think they might flower later or should I just write them off this year and hope for better next??

Got 3 2-year old gooseberry bushes. One has loads of fruit on it, the seconds has a few berries, the third has nothing. Sure they will all come good next year, like yours will.

ALso got 2 blackcurrant bushes - one was grown from a cutting of the other one and is a bit light on fruit compared to the original. So again, am sure next year there will be more fruit.
        Are y'oroight booy?

They won't flower this year. Flowering time for currants is spring so your bushes may be a bit young. Hopefully they will flower and fruit next year.
