Sounds like you've grown quite a few varieties, Swaine. Can I ask what are the rest of your top five? It's interesting what you said about the different strains. I'm looking forward to seeing how my plants turn out now

excellent I think you,ll like them
I think I have around 140-150 named varieties, around another 50 varieties of the different strawberry family (fragaria moschata, fragaria virginiana, fragaria nubicola, fragaria vesca, fragaria chiloensis, fragaria napelansis and a few others, and a few hundred types of my own experiments
I would say my top 5,
      (not in any particular order)
st Antoine de pardue (from france)
      mara des bois (from france)
      sir joseph Paxton (English)
      royal sov (English)
mieze schindler( Germany) - waitroses strasberry

I like the white/pink types as well, anablanca, ananas but have found this year the berries insipid, whereas last year they were very sweet, I have found that berry flavour/sweetness can be very from year to year, maybe down to temperature during ripening

I had the same problem strain wise with another strawberry from france called vivarosa, for years I had a strain that gave runners, but was told the original true strain was runner-less and managed to track down that strain, again from a collector in france,
