  • Comfrey fertiliser

Hi, fairly new at this malarkey!

Need some advice regarding comfrey fertiliser please. I collected a large bunch of comfrey and have had brewing as Monty suggested a few weeks ago. It looks (and smells!) ready but was wondering if it's ok to use on not just flowers and shrubs but is it ok for my peas, potatoes, raspberries and blueberry bush?? Scared of destroying any plants!!

    Thanks

It's completely natural and safe to use on all your plants.

I dilute mine by a splosh to a watering can of water.

Any fruiting plant will benefit from it. You can do the same with nettles, for any leafy plant too.

If you didn't want to brew it that way, you can just ram it all in a bucket, dry with a whole in the bottom - with another bucket underneath. Eventually, a thick liquid will drain out - that doesn't smell. A lady on my allotment site does it this way.

Oh goodness, that sounds much more appealing than the stench that is coming from my brew!

        Thanks

Just don't get any on your hands and legs because the smell seems to linger for ages even after washing.

I managed to get some nettle tea in my wellies last year and they still stink!

I use nettle or borage tea on everything once a week and also dilute to a splosh per can

I stuffed an old milk bottle full and left it. It's liquidy now with a lump of material still. Whiffs a bit but gave my strawberries a soak of it last night.
Note to self: wash hands before eating strawberries.
