don't usually experiment with gooseberry seedlings due to seemingly taking an age to come to fruiting, this one has come out quite nice, dark red fruit, sweet tasting!!! and mildew free, growing in the same area as many of my old types that suffer from mildew every year, haven't tried propagating/increasing it yet, just got to find a name

Looks lovely, swaine. How about 'Crimson Glory'? I'm not much good at names, lots of folk will be along soon with some brilliant suggestions, and you'll probably end up having to pick one from a hat.Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
Endless wonder.

Which variety was it a seedling of?
That might give some ideas - for example: the apple Worcester Pearmain has produced the offspring "Tydeman's Early Worcester" and "Merton Worcester".
Perhaps its name should have a reference to its cropping season - such as Tydeman's Early Worcester which was bred my a Mr.Tydeman, from a Worcester, and which ripens a little earlier than the original Worcester.Last edited by FB.; 19-07-2013, 07:12 PM..
