  • rasberries are soft and crumbling

Hello, is anyone else having trouble with soft and crumbling raspberries. They are Glen Fyne and last year we were just able to pick them but this year they just disintegrate when touched.I feed them early spring with sulphate of potash as recommended by the nurseryman I bought them from. Regards.

Are they a little overripe, perhaps?

Welcome to the vine, BTW - whereabouts are you? Can you stick your (approx) location in your profile - it helps people to give you advice.

Did it rain very recently? The ripes ones are ruined by the rain.

Sounds like they'r eoverripe to me too. Try pulling one off that doesn't look quite ripe to you and see if it stays intact....

Thank you all for your input. We haven't had much rain here in Lincolnshire but I have watered if they were dry. BTW. the fruit has no (raspberry)taste and some are quite bitter.
