Rhubarb

My rhubarb keeps snapping rather then doing ok & getting huge juicy stalks they are medium & then snap?

Lack of water?

Where is it growing, and how old is it?

Is it in an exposed/windy spot?

Is it in a shaded spot and growing long thin stems as it's straining to reach up the light?

Also lack of water is a possibility.

So is too much water or saturated mulch touching the crown and causing crown rot.

Perhaps it's a variety which doesn't produce thick stalks; some types of rhubarb are better producers than others.
