I planted new summer fruting raspberry canes last December (04). THey have grown well obviously without fruiting this year
When do I prune them back or do I just leave them?
do not cut down the canes that grew this year as they will bear fruit next year.
Next year you will get more new canes grow, tie these in and after fruiting cut out the canes that grew last year (ie the fruiting canes). This way you ensure that your fruit always has canes ready to fruit in the following year.
Any new canes that sprout in silly places just hoe off.
Enjoy your crop next year.
