(the story) ive attached a picture of the driveway of my old primary school, to the right there was from what I remember 3 trees, no I cant remember if all 3 were apple trees but there was one apple for definite , we were all ways warned quite sternly not to eat the apples from the trees as the would make us sick, I do remember when they used to fall people used to tread on them , what I remember most about them was a real red skin, with a red ring that went into the apple that went into the red flushed/tinted white flesh, they seemed more long than round in shape, im guessing a crab apple hence why we were told not to eat them
a few people did eat them with no ill affect and said they were quite nice, I have recently got a house near my old school, but unfortunately the trees are no longer there , grubbed out, just tarmac now, which saddens me every time I walk past I take a look as if expecting the trees to be re-grown out of the tarmac,
im just getting into apples , so....
the question,
do the seeds (seedlings) from red fleshed apples grow out to be similar to parents, is the colour dominant? I have a bloody ploughman im thinking of running out a few seeds just out of interest, im going to try and also work out what apple was growing at my old school to add that to the collection
