Look What I Found, What Is It?

Love this type of year i go for walks all over place when weather nice, spotting good little gems out in wild .

I've stumbled on 100's of blackthorn/sloes didn't realize how many there was, also found at least 1 plum/damson and quite a few apple trees scattered about here and there.

This i saw this and I was amazing, its very well hidden and I'm amazing i spotted it. I'm thinking its like a nectarine of some sort, pictures are not best as they was done on a crap camera.

It's very small and unusually healthy for a peach/nectarine.
But in this area the cherry plums/myrobalans have been ripening in recent weeks - and they are similar in size and shape to the fruit in the pictures; varying in colour from yellow through various shades of orange or pink, right through to purple.

Looks very much like a mirabelle plum to me (makes absolutely delicious jam) leaves should be dark green & shiny about halfway in size between plum & damson,fruit 1" - 1 1/2" diameter.

Yes looks exactly like peach but does not have that fluffy/furry skin to it its smoooth, had a rather big pip inside look like this

They was only tiny tho so maybe i could take another trip to location see if the fruit size has increased and get a few better pics, but that will have to be next week some time as that is 1 long walk .

It's obviously small, thumbnail sized . . . foliage looks like a fuschia but I don't think their fruits are orange. Its not a mirabelle or cherryplum with those stems and leaves, I'd say. Are there any flowers still remaining?

Just seen post about stone and went to look at my mirabelles. The young growth shoot stems are green, not purple and the leaves are three times the size of the fruits, which are butter yellow with red freckles. The stones are much rounder and smoother than a peach/nectarine.

Interesting so when i go next time to check on the fruits progress, should i get close picture of leaf structure, bark texture, branch/leaf structure and fruit cut in half with picture of pip?

Nope no flowers when I was last there, just small fruit and there not the easiest to spot they hide behind leaves like their tryign to avoid picking .

I'd suggest opening it up and tasting the flesh. That will probably tell you whether it is peachy or plummy.

hmmmm to be honest i havn't ate a plum or peach In a long while, generally as long it tastes nice it goes in my gob regardless .

Would like to figure out what it is tho, might take a walk up there today if I get the time.

Take a look at the stone inside - peach stones tend to be more crinkly than plums

When i go there ill bring a fruit back and dissect it with photo evidence Hopefully I'll be able to go check it out today at some point.

I'm with FB and BB... looks just like the little cherry plums we have along one edge of our allotment... lovely little things!

Sadly we've had very few this year as the council came and cut back the hedge at exactly the wrong time!

Here are those extra pictures of the tree/fruit, I'm starting to think like you said some kind of plum variety.

All i know is they taste amazing!!!!!! Even tho there small great bite size refreshing snack .
