I started to tidy my strawberry bed yesterday, raking out the straw etc, bit of a mess! How close to the ground should I cut the plants back to? I have removed some runners to fill in some gaps, but they were very good this year.

Am also wondering if now would be a good time to apply some manure ? To allow to rotten over winter or best wait till Spring, and add some then?

    Thanks

I just cut off all the old leaves leaving the new leaves coming through to feed the plant. Not sure whether they'd need manure. I tend to add some when planting new plants to get them going but not in subsequent years. No logical reasoning through!

Just cut off the dead and dying leaves, and generally tidy up.

I wouldn't use manure on them, maybe some well rotted compost.

Best to leave the feeding till spring when they start to wake up. They are heading into dormancy now.
