  • Blueberry bushes

I have recently bought a couple of blueberry bushes . Variety pink lemonade !

From what I have read online the advice is to mulch them ASAP when been planted in tubs
I have out some of the correct compost and topsoil .
    But yet too plant out

I'm wondering if anyone would endorse the above .
Plus any other tips and advice is appreciated .

Trial and error to see what I get next year

Standard advice is an acid soil, and use rain water not tap water.
Mulch is to retain moisture as they also need to be kept moist all the time. So don't go mad on the normal thing of good drainage. Also mulch with something that is acidic, mushroom compost is alkaline and would cause problems.

Normally produce more fruit if the varieties are different.
They fruit on 2 and 3 years old wood, however I cannot tell the difference between 1 and 5 year old wood on mine.

They will be better in as big a pot as you can give them.
Birds really like the fruit and will raid it at 4:00 in the morning, and at any time your back is turned, and in the case of one blackbird even if you are stood there telling it to go elsewhere.

One strange thing in doing a quick check on the variety is that no-one mentions it needing acid soil, equally they do not say it is different in not caring about the soil type. Presume they assume everyone knows it has to have an acid soil.
