I just gave my strawberry patch a bit of a weed and clean up for the end of the year, and noticed that most of them were covered in flowers. Some of them didn't even produce any flowers this summer (but like an idiot I forgot to mark which), and some already cropped well in June. A few plants kept a couple of flowers on late last year, but there's more on there now than at any other point this year!
There's about 8 or so different varieties, from one to three years old, bought at different times from different places, and I really can't think what's causing it. Clearly they're not going to develop- it's cold, and the few half-grown berries were frosted and squishy.
Is there anything I can do to stop 'em wasting energy on blossoming at such a silly time, and persuade them to start during a sensible month?
