Ostara Strawberry - Advice

Hi all. I picked up what appear to be bare roots of these from a local Poundland store. I have purchased all sorts from Poundland over the years and have generally been more than happy with the purchases. Other than stating these need soaking before planting I have no other info. Never really grown strawbs before so I guess I need to know if these guys are suitable for containers and when to soak and plant !

Soak now before they dry out any more. Soak for 24 hours and then plant. I would plant individually in 3" pots, making sure not to bury the crown and keep them under cover until they show signs of growth.

Thats a great help, many thanks. I assume they are OK outside and covered. I have a strawberry planter type thing. Assume I am ok to transplant into this once growth is established??

They're hardy but I would gradually acclimatised to being outdoors again - as they'll have been sat in storage/shop for a while.

I also bought poundland ostara strawberry 2 weeks ago.
From outside, it looks like there is only dark soil inside the bag, and cannot see any green.
I read amazon customer reviews about dormant strawberry roots can sprout after 2-3 weeks so I wanted to try.
bought them, soaked them in water and planted in a pot.
After 2 weeks it still shows no sign of growing.

But yesterday I went into pounland again, and see strawberry plants are stocked with fresh ones. This one inside the bag I can see green stems and definitely alive.
I now doubt if the previous poundland roots are already dead before I even bought it, knowing what fresh stock should look like. I guess those black roots must have been in a bag inside the store for several months and probably really too long to survive.

I would wait for Poundland to restock with fresh alive roots if only dead look-like roots available in store.
