  • Winter pruning apple trees

I wonder if anyone can help me with a bit of winter pruning for these 2 apple trees, unfortunately I do not know what variety they are.

I have pruned a couple of other apple trees which seemed to follow some instructions I had seen on the internet (pruned a 3rd off into a sort of wine glass shape and trimmed any crossing branches.)

Any help would be gladly received.

    No pruning is necessary.

However, they might have benefited from some training a couple of years ago.

For the one against the wall, you could try *gently* splaying the arms out a bit more - the width between the 2 main arms of the V shape could probably be double or even treble what it is at the moment (but be careful not to put too much pressure on the point where they split at the base of the stem). Over time this will make the tree more fruitful.
