  • Fruit for east facing greenhouse

    Hi.

I have acquired a 6x4 greenhouse (without glass), and the only place in my garden where it will fit is by the shed (currently 3 compost bins).

The shed is to the west, and there is a 4ft fence to the south, so the little greenhouse won't get lots of sun, perhaps till about 1 or 2pm.

I already have 2 other greenhouses for tomatoes, chillis, etc, and each have a peach tree, and there a grapevine in the bigger one too.

Can anyone recommend a fruit tree, or other plants that I could grow.

I was wondering how well a premium fruit tree like an apricot or nectarine would work, or whether to stick with something like a cherry which will cope better with the reduced sun.

I've recently grafted an apricot and a nectarine so they may be okay to plant next winter, or I also have a morello cherry (budded last summer), or I could get something new.

If a tree isn't suitable I could fill it with strawberry plants?!?

    Morello cherry - perfect.
Apricot or nectarine or dessert cherry - they really need full sun.
Early apples e.g. Katy or Discovery.
    Any culinary plum, e.g. Herman.
