I've just done a test on my garden soil and it appears to be Alkaline, as does my home made compost.
I've just re-potted my grape plant and the root system wasn't very well developed, and I take it that's probably because last time I did this I used my garden compost, but the pH needs to be slightly acidic.
So basically I've just repotted it using Aldi 'seed and cutting compost' which is made of 'moss peat, sedge peat and green compost' and is apparently pH balanced.
I think I might as well just bit the bullet, re-pot the plant and ensure all my fruit plants are potted in a slightly acidic compost made for fruit plants.
Can anybody recommend a particular kind of compost which would work for all of these? Thanks
