Too late to prune new grape vine?

Hi,
We picked up a grape vine last year and planted it in pot but didn't look at what to do with it. Now I realise that we should have cut the 2 branches back to 3 buds in the winter - is it too late to cut it back? Should we just let it grow and cut it back next winter or cut it back to the buds now?

I wouldn't cut it back now. The sap will be rising, mine have got buds and it will bleed sap from the cuts. It should be cut back in the dead of winter. I'd leave the brown stems alone this year but you can cut back the green growth when it comes if it gets out of control. I cut mine back weekly in summer to keep it confined to the greenhouse

Yes, ours has got leaves opening already. I guess we'll just be a year behind
