Moving fruit bushes

Hi

I know that there are special times in which it is best to move fruit plants but this year is going to be a bit of a problem for us to possibly do it at the right time.

So can anyone please tell me. Will I kill the plants if I move them at what might be considered the wrong time.

We have rhubarb, tayberry, strawberries, autumn raspberries, wineberries, grape, gooseberries, blueberries, black and red currants.

We will move them as late as possible and if anyone can advise on this please do but it will be a real problem for us to move them all over the winter/dormant times.

If anyone can suggest times that are fairly safe, as obviously we don't want to kill them it would be really appreciated.

If you have no choice, you have no choice

The worst possible time to move a plant, in general, is when it is full flower/fruit production.

Conversely, the easiest time to pull out a weed, is when it's flowering: it has less hold on the soil

I have moved fruit bushes at just about every time of year. They may not like it and you will lose what is potentially this years crop but the bushes themselves have always survived.

They are fairly robust things at the end of the day.

Instead of waiting until the last minute, can you pot some up ready?
I'm always shifting fruit bushes around and they survive.
Why don't you take some cuttings and grow those on in pots, as an insurance policy.
