  • New blackberry plant

I bought a bare root blackberry plant from Wilkos (unsure what type) and planted some time ago. It is so far showing no sign of coming to life. Other plants planted at the same time are doing fine so should this be taking longer than everything else or should I give up and pull it out?

    Thanks all

I would wait. Bare rooted, in bags in "sheds", can have been hanging around for a while and either be dead or very dormant as a result, but as you planted it "some time ago" I reckon it didn't hang around for that long, and should be fine. Probably just getting under way ...

Make sure it has enough water, and cross fingers perhaps?!

Not an expert but did plant 2 blackberry plants in January. 1 or 2 weeks ago I first noticed some small growth coming out of the ground. Even after 2 weeks this is only about 3-4 inches above the ground so problably you should not worry since it looks like they take their time growing.

Maybe I am not being patient enough. Where abouts are you? I'm in Yorkshire so if yours are only now showing signs of life and are further south there's hope for mine yet
