Soft fruits flowering/fruiting

Hi everyone.

I'm a little concerned as most of my soft fruit is flowering; my Jostaberry plants are even starting to fruit! My blackcurrants, Redcurrants and Whitecurrant are all flowering like crazy, but they haven't put on much new growth. They're not supposed to be early varieties, either.

Is the mild winter to blame? And is there any chance they'll continue to grow throughout the rest of the season? I wanted to take more cuttings this year, but if they don't put on any more growth I doubt I'll be able to get any good ones

Mine are flowering too, but I'm not unduly worried.

You will find that the stem growth comes after the flowers have set, so don't worry about that.

Best time to take cuttings is when the leaves drop in Autumn, so plenty of time yet.

Mine are flowering too. I let them decide when to flower - they know best

My redcurrant bush is also flowering, and it was only planted last autumn. I think with the mild winter we've had everything has started off a bit earlier than normal. I'm not expecting any frosts here anymore so I'm not unduly worried. I'm sure yours will be fine too!

A lot of mine has started early too, I've not even had chance to get everything properly "in" as we moved house and moved everything from the allotment into the new garden, as well as buying a few new bits. Hopefully it will be okay. Looks like I will have lots of blueberries, which is great!

Phew, I'm quite relieved now. Also I'll have plenty of fruit much earlier than I expected, time to collect those jam jars

I have blueberries in flower, plus blackcurrant, cherry, elder, and Jostaberry .... then again I did also have a globe artichoke trying to flower in December/January

Update: Now one of my Autumn raspberries is starting to get flower buds on it! I know it's an autumn raspberry because all of my raspberry plants are splits/rooted cuttings from a single autumn raspberry cane I bought a couple of years ago. It's also new growth it's about to flower on.

Must think it's September already
