  • Victoria plum

    Hi,
I have a victoria plum tree which is 4-5 years old. Last summer all the leaves turned brown and dropped off long before autumn. This year there is no signs of life at all on the tree. Is there any hope? I live in the North of Scotland.
    Thanks.

Doesn't sound too promising. I'd have thought that you should have seen some blossom by now, followed by leaf bud burst. But I'd give it another week or so. Otherwise, with Victoria plums a likely cause of an early death is a severe case of canker, or some other disease, girdling the lower trunk near soil level or just above the graft union with the rootstock. I'd have a look down there for symptoms.

Yes, I also thought you should have had blossom by now. Have you scratched the bark for signs of life?
