strawberry runners

I grew loads of strawberry plants last year from the runners of just 2 vigorous strawberry plants I had to start with. They are all thriving, and throwing off runners of their own. I don't have room for more strawberry plants, and would prefer the plants to put their energy into bearing fruit. Is it worth snipping off the runners to discourage them and favour fruit production?

The simple answer - Yes!

Yes, cut the runners off as soon as you see them. Just remember that strawberry plants are best replaced after about 3 years. What some people do is root enough runners for one extra row every year and dig up the old plants. That way your strawberry bed will gradually move across the allotment.
