  • When to pick raspberries

I have autumn bliss raspberry canes and had left some at 30cm tall to get earlier fruit. Now I have some and they look like this...

    ....can I pick it now?

    Thanks

Eat it and see if it tastes good! If so, pick it

I picked some raspberries last weekend. I pick them when they come away easily.

That looks ready- I think I can see the cream flesh of the centre..so grab it before the birds do!!!!

Have to say that mine have been a bit less tasty so far this year- bit like the strawberries have- because all the rain seems to have diluted the flavour a bit.

Either way- it's going to be yummy!

Are you sure they are autumn bliss, 'cause the name suggests they are Autumn fruiting.
My Tulamulleen are just starting to ripen.
Anyway, whatever they are it looks about ready. If it falls off it is over ripe, but it seems the closer to the falling off stage it is picked the sweeter the fruit.

Feed the soil, not the plants.

If you dont prune autumn fruiting raspberries down to the ground after it's first year they will give an early crop on the second year wood and also a late crop on the new wood.
