  • Cut back strawberries?

    Hi all

My strawberries have fruited sent out runners and now appear to be dying back. We are re-doing are garden so while all the runners are pinned in to other pots it's quite awkward to move them when we need to, is it ok to cut them back now?

You could check a runner and see how the rooting is taking place, if good root system it's O.K. to trim.

    Cheers, Tony.

Thanks, what about the big crispy leaves on the parent plant, shall I cut them off or leave them?

Cut them off Mumbles, they are serving no purpose.

I would do but all the scissors have gone missing. Please don't ask how I really am stumped on this one!

My plot neighbour lets the leaves die down all winter to make a natural mulch and feed the soil. Her straws are huge and prolific!
Sorry to muddy the water. I'm leaving mine alone this year.
