just how tall are blackcurrants supposed to grow to? we spent this morning picking the fruit but a few of them were beyond reach(I am 5ft 11ins) and we had to resort to standing on chairs, however that plot is where the chooks used to potter about all day , sprawled out in the sun when they got the chance, so I suppose it was well fertilised and the height is roughly just under 9ft to the top of the plants, I hope they don't grow any more next year...

it seems such a shame to cut them as they seem to crop all the way up the stems and we filled 7 ice cream tubs full with the fruit from 6 plants, so next year its a bigger crop (hopefully) and learn how to use stilts...

a great crop this year and OH has made 3 tubs of ice cream,3 of mousse, 2 of sorbet and today with the last lot we made 4 jars of jam, next week we will be starting on the goosegogs which have gone a lovey red colour and really sweet, we should get 3-4 basin full from the 7 bushes.....
