Blackberries grow canes in year one, and those canes fruit in year two, then are removed at the end of year two to allow the new canes which grew during year two to replace them in year three..

Agree with FB, this years canes will flower and fruit next year. Don't do any pruning this Autumn! As an aside my blackberry usually fruits August into September but this year is fruiting now. This is unfortunate as I'm about to go on holiday and have plenty of other soft fruit e.g. raspberries to pick at the moment.
