Crabb Apples

Hi,
My crabb apple tree at my allotment has got some lovely looking fruit on. They are about the size of a cherry and bright red.
Just wondering how do I know when they are ready to pick?

If you hold the apple and take its weight in your hand and give it a little twist. If it comes away easy in your hand with the stalk then it is ready to be picked

You'll probably also notice a few or a lot on the ground, where the wind has helped them down

Thanks for the advice. Didn't have many on last year but this year it has loads.

I find crabbies are best when they start to fall naturally as they tend to be too small to just twist.
