Two years ago I planted three bare root dwarf trees on my allotment. They have all struggled. The plum got really tall and straggly and pigeons ate every new leaf on it in spring so I cut it back end of June. It looks healthy now but possibly won't fruit next year...or ever! The pear is heavy with quite a lot of fruit and looks quite healthy.
However the apple ..golden delicious has a bit of fruit but all the apples are being spoilt by bugs. But the actual tree looks ..well...manky. Weak floppy stems and curled diseased looking leaves. My soil isn't great I admit but why does the tree look so poor. What should I feed an apple tree with to perk it up? I added good soil at time of planting.Advice please.
