  • Wild Fruit Foraging Books

I took the bairn foraging for raspberries yesterday and there was loads! so much in fact that we made so much jam it should last us till next year.

She came home from school and wanted to go out again for more but I think we picked all we could from those particular spots, but I know there is a few elderberry trees and a apple tree out the back but was thinking of other stuff that might be dotted about but I just don't know whether we should eat them or not.

Can anyone recommend a foraging book with pics etc?

    Thanks guys
    Jen

Collins Gem do a little pocket size called food for free by Richard Mabey. I've just bought it and I think it's great.

It doesn't just cover fruit though.

The River Cottage Hedgerow Handbook is good and has excellent photos which help with identification.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
