Raspberry black soot under leaves

Hi,

I noticed earlier my raspberries have what looks like black soot dust on the underside of the leaves. I have searched to try to find out what it is and the only thing I have found has been raspberry rust. However, they haven't done the yellow or orange stages (as far as I noticed while picking fruit) so I am not sure if that is it.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or advice?

Well I would also guess rust, maybe you just missed the early stages? Can you take a couple of photos? I'm hoping someone else might be able to help but a photo would make a difference.

I have this too: like a sprinkling of soot over most of the leaves. It's end of season and the leaves will be dropping in a week or two anyway, so I'll just make sure I sweep them up over winter.

Greenfly? They produce honeydew that goes black in cool damp conditions. I had a chili plant covered in it so it is now in the bin!

Probably `sooty mould` caused by gunk from insects going mouldy, common sign of insects on plants

Just ignore it at this time of year , try and get shut of insects like greenfly next year with something like some ladybirds once its warm enough

Joan J is only mildly affected (these are nice and healthy, massive crop, still cropping)




Glen Ample is badly affected (these are not so healthy, small crop, nowhere near as vigourous as the Joan J, look a bit weedy)

Yep, mine look exactly the same. I'm determined not to worry about it though.
