  • I need Grape Help!

    Hello!

I have searched, it seems, everywhere on the internet
trying to find grape seeds to plant. I have missed the
season by just a few days to order grape vines (I'm in
zone 7a). My question is do you know of any place
where I can buy grape seeds? I was really interested
in the concords but at this point I'm not very picky.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Joey

Hello and welcome to the vine jgullo29. We don't have many grapes from GA on the vine (unless they are hiding). My family and I lived in Dunwoody for six months at the end of 2005 - it was lovely though a bit hot in August!

Not sure what your garden centres / plant nurseries are like but my local one has grapevines for sale for most of the year. Have you tried Wal-mart? I think I recall seeing vines in one of the bigger stores I visited. Good luck with your growing.
    Happy Gardening,

      Hi.
...Could you dry your own?. I've never done it an i'm not a grape expert, but i'd try it.

      Goodluck.

some of the grapes that fell from my vine last year have germinated into seedlings. I have repotted them and they each have 1 leaf on now.

Bear in mind these seedlings have taken a year to germinate so be patient but it should work.

Sadly I keep things real tidy where the grapevine is concerned and these seem to be the only escapees from my big tidy up this spring. Alas I have no seeds to send you.

Perhaps another user could send you some, if anyone has a few left over.

Sorry, I'm a bit thick - what or where is GA? As to grape seeds, yes you can germinate and grow them but they may not turn out to be a recognizable variety. You may however discover a brilliant new variety, but only time will tell. If you want reliable, known variety vines, then you will just have to buy named cuttings or plants.

It is indeed Georgia, USA. I only know coz I lived there a couple years back - hot and wet in August! Didn't do any gardening there as you needed an aqualung to go outdoors!! Sat in the kitchen and watched the hummingbirds instead

GA - Best state in the US. Home to icons such as Coca Cola, Delta Airlines, and UPS. Home of such talent as Little Richard (Macon), Otis Redding (Dawson), Gladys Knight and Brenda Lee (Atlanta), James Brown (Augusta), REM and the B-52's (Athens), Outkast (East Point) and the world famous Jukebox Junkyard in Lizella as well as Atlanta being the home of crunk!

I seem to remember The Home Depot or Wal-Mart Supercenters in Dunwoody, Marietta and Alpharetta having stocks of seeds for planting - not sure if there were grape seeds though.

How do we stand with USPS and US Customs in mailing over some seeds?
