  • Dwarf apple tree in the raspberry bed?

I have two dwarf apple trees - both about 3 or 4 years old, which I'm taking out of the bed they are in because I don't like the fruit and it is too small. I am happy to get rid of them.

I have two raspberry beds which these trees would fit at the far end of, however. The blossom is nice, and they don't take up too much room.

Is it worth planting them there? They won't cast shade, and if the raspberries kill them I won't be too sorry. I can't see how else they would bother raspberries though - yes they'll fight for nutrients, but the rootball is small. I take care of the raspberries.

Try it and see, or accept it will never work and save time on digging two holes?

If you aren't too bothered about them for a bumper fruit harvest then you might as well give them a reprieve. Nice bonus for the bees if nothing else.
