Aldi start selling theirs tomorrow too (£3.99 each), which always seem to be quite popular. They were also selling packs of 3 soft fruit bushes yesterday with some decent varieties available.

Are those apple varieties good in the Northern Ireland climate?

For the extra quid it may pay to check out £strecher while your at it.

The Braeburn and the Bramley's certainly are - Bramley's are the main apple grown here commercially.

                        Lidl fruits

I've had red, black and white currants from Lidl before. They seem fine.

They offer more varieties than shown on the picture. I saw there Spartan and Discovery apple trees, and also a pear variety with a long name, which I do not remember now.

I am not sure if they are really on the dwarf M9 rootstock - they seemed pretty vigourous to me.

What do you think about those varieties, anyway?

Saw some fruit trees in Tesco this morning but didn't look at the price, although they've been sold at discount-level prices in previous years.
