  • When will 2yr old Cheery/Apple tree fruit?

I was thinking about grabbing some from Aldi and wondered if they would fruit this year?

A happy apple tree would probably fruit that year if you let it, but it would probably get settled in better if you remove the fruit the first year after planting (hard to do I know).

I would allow just one fruit to form, so you can check that it is actually the variety that it was labelled as, and remove all the rest so the tree puts its energy into getting established.

I think it depends on the root stock and variety but regardless the above advise is good for the 1st year. Also note this initial pruning advise Pruning a newly-planted fruit tree
I planted 1 year maiden bare root cherries December 2013 and they would have produced around 5 cherries each if I had let them instead they produced 1 each which something ate soon after they formed.

I have never removed fruit in the planting year with any 2 yr old fruit tree
Apples I almost always got a lot form but 1st year the tree drops what it cant hold, only 5 or so left by June, next year they usually fruit well, plums are usually covered in fruit first year, cherries i find they drop the flowers most times first year so dont fruit then
