grafting tools

Hi
I now have a fair selection of fruit trees.
I would like to learn how to make decent grafts, can anyone advise on
the tools I am going need, and where to purchase the best of them.
Also what do you make of the secateur type grafting tools?
Be nice to attend a graft demo, don't think there is anything of that sort in the swansea
area, would be pleased to learn if there was.

I phoned bishopston and thay are fully booked for both days, disappointed,
But if there's a cancellation I'll be there.
the lady I spoke to at Bishopston informed me of another fee paying demo up in newcastle emyln,
you come away with two trees from there, ( as if I haven't got enough )

There are some good videos on the web (YouTube) which explain clearly what you need to do and from this you would be able to work out what you need.

I have a good left handed grafting knife which is a small bladed knife which is flat on one side. The only other tool you'd need is a pair of secateurs for cutting the rootstock.

Learning the technique of getting the graft cut right can be tricky but is easy with practise.

The other equipment I use are:
Rootstocks
Wax - to cover the wounds/graft
Elastic band - to tie the graft

Ive done a short course , and for me you mainly need to watch some one repeating the graft a few times , plus safety, the best knife is a steel one not a stainless one you cant sharpen a stainless one sharp enough, you can really hone a steel knife, as said before its not difficult when you get the hang of it, still waiting for my first 10 grafts to develop and see if it was easy or not
